About Us
Our Mission
Tiki Island is a canal waterfront home community located near Galveston, Texas. Our location is both a blessing, by being off the beaten path and a curse, by creating single access point – Interstate 45. Mainland First Responders coming to our aid in the event of a fire, medical, or rescue emergency can easily, and frequently, be delayed or denied due to road construction, road congestion, and/or a tropical weather event. Years ago, recognizing the risks of delayed response in the event of an on-island emergency, the residents of Tiki Island elected to establish and collect an emergency service fee to fund a hybrid Volunteer Fire Department, where a single paid professionally trained and state certified Paramedic/Firefighter would be stationed on the island and work a 24-hour shift. Tiki Island residents have served as First Responding volunteers to support the on-duty professionals. Therefore, our mission at the Tiki Island Volunteer Fire Department is to honor our community commitment by providing self-sufficient around-the-clock professional firefighting, rescue, and advanced life support services to the residents, their guests, as well as protecting the residents’ and business owners’ property in Tiki Island. In addition, we stand ready to provide mutual aid to our neighboring communities.

Get Involved
- There are many ways to volunteer. From Firefighter to First Responder to citizen support. Come to a meeting and find out all the many ways.
- Department and training meetings are held at the Public Safety Building @ 747 Tiki Drive the 1st and 3rd Monday every month at 5:30pm. Visit us at those meetings to meet departmental personnel and learn how you can become a member or otherwise help us.
- Board Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm. They are open to everyone.
